Messaging & Communication
SwapSanity includes a built-in messaging system to help you coordinate with your team.
Starting a Conversation
You can start a private chat or a group conversation by navigating to the “Conversations” tab.
From the Field Session roster
On the Activity Hub roster, tap a person’s name to open a chat with them. Leads and admins can also use the message button next to Scheduled, Clocked In, or Departed to message that whole section at once.
From the Live Map
Tap a person’s icon (or a cluster, then pick a person) to open details: role, last GPS, speed, heading, and contact info when available. Use Message to open an in-app chat. For kids without their own account, messaging goes to a linked guardian.
Kiosk messages
When the hub is in Kiosk Mode, roster and live-map messages are stored in a separate conversation titled as from the kiosk (for example Kiosk → Clocked In · Group Name or Kiosk · Group → Name). Push notifications use the kiosk label so people know the note came from the field station rather than a personal lead DM.
Finding Users
When starting a new conversation, you can search for users by name or email. The search is “fuzzy,” meaning you don’t need to type the exact name perfectly. It will find matches based on partial names and is case-insensitive, making it easier to find your colleagues quickly.
Chat Features
The chat interface is designed for quick and flexible communication.
- Smart Text Entry: The message box automatically grows as you type longer messages, so you can always see what you’re writing.
- Message Expiration: By default, messages are set to expire after one year. You can change this date using the “Expiration” control above the date selector.
Scheduled Messages
Need to write a message now but send it later?
- Type your message.
- Press and Hold the Send button.
- Select the date and time you want the message to be delivered.
- The message will be scheduled and sent automatically at the chosen time.
